Remote Starters & Acuralink

Factory vs. Aftermarket Remote Starters

What's The Difference?

Aftermarket remote starters may be cheaper, but they come with MANY risks. In order to install an aftermarket remote starter, the wire harness has to be permanently altered, and as such its coverage under your vehicles 4 year/50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is voided. Some aftermarket starters also must bypass the anti-theft system to be installed, which make the cars significantly more vulnerable to theft.

In addition, aftermarket starters do not have the warranties that factory starters do. If a factory remote start is purchased and installed in a new vehicle prior to delivery, it falls under the cars 4 year/50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. If the remote starter is purchased on a vehicle that is already in use, the remote start comes with a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty. There is also the inconvenience of having multiple remotes on your keyfob. If you purchase an aftermarket keyfob, you will have both your remote keyfob as well as the traditional keyfob to lock/unlock your vehicle.
